Tu Vuo Fà L'Americano
Renato Carosone
italianswing
Renato Carosone, 1956, mocking a young Neapolitan who dresses American, drinks whisky and soda and dances rock and roll while still living on his parents' money.
It is a jazz-inflected satire of postwar Americanisation that became, by way of The Talented Mr Ripley and later a house record, one of the most exported Italian songs of the century — which is a joke the song would have appreciated.
