To Vals Tou Gamou

Eleni Karaindrou wrote this for The Beekeeper (1986), one of many films she scored for Theo Angelopoulos across a partnership that lasted until his death.

Her music for him is deliberately sparse and slow — long held notes, a lot of silence, usually a solo instrument against strings. It is written to sit inside very long takes without hurrying them.
