The Man Who Sold The World
E M E L - آمال مثلوثي
tunisianfolk
Bowie's 1970 title track, a song about meeting a version of yourself you had assumed was dead. Bowie played it live rarely for years, then reclaimed it after Nirvana's Unplugged performance made it famous to a generation who thought Cobain wrote it.
Emel Mathlouthi is Tunisian, and her voice — which became associated with the 2011 uprising there — puts a very different weight on it.
