Khaled Mouzanar wrote this for Caramel (2007), Nadine Labaki's first film, set in a Beirut beauty salon. Mouzanar is a Lebanese composer and Labaki's husband, and he has scored all of her films since.

The score does a lot of the film's work — it treats a comedy about five women's private lives with the seriousness usually reserved for something much heavier.
