La Campanella

Salvatore Accardo

classicalviolin

Paganini wrote the tune as the finale of his second violin concerto; Liszt's piano transcription is the version most people know. This is the original medium, the violin, where the point is the bell-like high harmonics the title refers to.

Salvatore Accardo is the Italian violinist most associated with Paganini in the twentieth century — he recorded the complete concertos and is one of the few players to have performed on Paganini's own Guarneri.
