L'italiano
Toto Cutugno
italianpop
Toto Cutugno's 1983 song, written for Sanremo and rejected before he recorded it himself. It became one of the most recognisable Italian songs abroad, to the point where it is regularly assumed to be an old standard rather than a 1980s pop single.
The words are a list of what being Italian consists of, half proud and half sending itself up, which is why it survives its own arrangement.
