Mor Karbasi is a London-based singer of Moroccan-Jewish and Persian descent who sings in Ladino, and she is one of the few artists writing new material in the language rather than only preserving what exists.

The tradition is Iberian in origin but the sound she brings to it is North African and flamenco-adjacent, which reflects where her own family carried it.
