ERA
new-age
ERA was a French project by Eric Lévi, and this 1996 track is the best-known thing it made: massed choral voices over a rock rhythm section, singing words that sound like Latin but are not — a deliberately invented language chosen for how it sounds rather than for anything it means.
That trick puts it in the same family as Enigma and Deep Forest, the 1990s vogue for chant-over-beat that sold enormously and was written off by critics almost immediately.
