An Estonian carpenter stays behind in a Georgian village during the 1992 Abkhazian war to help his neighbour bring in the tangerine harvest. A firefight leaves two wounded soldiers from opposite sides in his house, both promising to kill the other as soon as they can stand up.
Almost the entire film happens in one small house between four men, and it earns its resolution slowly, through cooking and chores and enforced politeness, rather than through speeches about peace.
It was nominated for the foreign-language Oscar in 2015 and put a war most audiences had never heard of in front of them. Zaza Urushadze died in 2018, not long after; this remains the film he is known for.
